When playing Blackjack, insurance is offered when the dealer is showing an Ace. If you want to take insurance, you are required to place fifty percent of your bet on the table.
Insurance is not protection for players. Statistically speaking, there are only 4 cards that make Blackjack. Those are not very good odds for an insurance bet and it is more likely that you will lose money in the long run if you take insurance.
With that in mind, insurance could make sense if you have the ability to count cards and you’re good at it. Card counters my benefit from insurance if used in the right scenario. I cannot count cards nor do I want to try. I can’t quite wrap my head around that whole process. I avoid insurance at all costs. I’ll leave insurance bets to the card counting experts.
