I think Mr. Green Casino has cast some sort of spell over me. I can’t stay away and there’s always something new to play. I frequently get offers for free spins by email anytime there is a new game. Free spin offers a clever online casino trick to draw us in. I heard that Black Gold had hit the market. It’s the latest from BetSoft and it’s hilarious.

First off, the music is really funny and adds so much to the experience of playing Black Gold. The graphics are great and the creators clearly have an amazing sense of humor. A cowboy sits atop his horse as you spin away. When you have a mighty fine spin he’ll tell you so. I just love the concept and design.

Now, the problem is that it doesn’t pay very well. I’ve read quite a bit on the casino forums about this site and we’ve debated. I’ll share some of the comments with you.

“Sadly pays are quite average, and what I don’t like as much is that as full of features as slot is, every feature requires you to have 3 of appropriate symbols. They pay nothing but raise the variance from medium to very high, thus greatly lowering your hit chance. I can definitely sense the lack of wild.”

“Well it seems you can’t have it all. If it is full of features, than you have ton of symbols thus exponentially higher variance, or you have medium variance but a dull slot. It seems that NetEnt is closer to ideal than anyone else lately.”

“Pays are small, but it wouldn’t be such a big deal if there was a wild (than hit chance would be much higher). I’m sure that 100% of gamblers will always put their money on something that pays good, rather than something graphically teasing but low on pays. I hope people at Betsoft will realize that in the end.”

“So, to sum it up, this slot is mostly like a cost-effective sort of entertainment? I mean, it’s fun, and it won’t cost you much, but don’t expect to win big?”

That last comment certainly sums it up for me. Black Gold is fun to play and you’re bankroll is steady for the most part but I can’t see any big wins in our future. Check out Black Gold and let me know what you think. Would you agree that the payout is fairly low on many of the BetSoft slot games?

I have heard of some interesting casino tricks through the years and I have also heard of some crazy ones too.

I once when to a land casino and sat down at a slot machine that was in a row of 7 total. A woman caught my eye as I was playing when she walked up to each slot in the row and placed her hand alongside of each one.

It was quite obvious she had some type of casino trick she used to select just the right machine but I couldn’t even begin to imagine what it was.

She finally sat down right next to me, slipped some cash in the machine and had one hand on the button and the other on the side of the machine.

I couldn’t understand why she kept this awkward and uncomfortable position. Finally the curiosity got to the best of me and I asked her straight out “do you have a casino trick for playing slots”?

She was more than happy to tell me that she most certainly did. I asked if she wouldn’t mind sharing it with me because I could use all the luck I can at this point.

She was very kind and began to give her theory that she believed in with all her might. She told me that a slot that is going to either hit big or is on a roll of paying out will feel hot to the touch. Without even as so much of a blink she said she has one many times by using this method.

The woman told me that there was several times at different casinos she asked to leave because as she put it “the casino staff knew she figured out the winning slots”.

I wonder if they threw her out because they suspected foul play on her part and not that she had discovered some winning secret to beat the slots.

I thought she was crazy but had to wonder if she was on to something. How could I apply this to online casinos?

Choosing one land based casino over another can mean lucky or unlucky. This is the casino trick used by a friend of mine and by many other folks. Actually, I believe we can all relate. I have chosen to visit one land based or online casino over another based on a feeling or past experience. When we make a choice and win, we tend to believe that it had much to do with choosing the right casino.  Unfortunately, the same goes when we lose. We may think it’s all based on the choice we’ve made.

Once I choose the casino I find myself taking two or three laps around it trying to narrow down an area to play. I have a friend that I can never find in a casino. She likes to play the video poker machines yet she’s never over in that section. We recently went to the casino together. I lost my bankroll with an hour or so and I started looking for her. That’s one thing we do is split up. We both agree that there’s no reason to stick together so we go off and do our own thing. I have been known to walk around a casino four or five times with still no sign of her. I have visions of doing bodily harm then suddenly I spot her. She’s in some random corner of the casino.

If we drill down further, choosing a lucky game is a trick of the trade. When I play a certain slot game and win, I know I’ve made the right choice.  The trick is to pin point the right game. It’s impossible and really comes down to luck. If luck is on our side it doesn’t really matter what we decide to play or where we decide to play it.

On this trip to the land based trip my casino trick was to play cheap and exercise some control. I walked in like I owned the place and with nothing more than £25. I left the debit card and remaining cash at home so there was no temptation. Out of sight out of mind I guess. If I won it would be a bonus but I was not about to spend more than that 25 bucks. It is a bit more difficult to control things this way when you are playing at an online casino. Everything is so accessible from home. With the click of a button, I can deposit over and over again if I want to.

Me and my £25 hit the electronic roulette table. It was a nice change but the slots were calling me over as usual. I decided to walk around a bit and stop to grab a drink. A cold drink was nice and all I could hope is that I could win some cash or at least have some play time to make the trip worthwhile.

I circled the slot machines two or three times before claiming a machine. I held my breath as I sat down at Diana’s Realm. This slot game has a very green forest type theme. The goal for me was to hit the free spin bonus very early on. If the reels didn’t pay, I may be able to depend on a nice win from the free spins. I set my bet for £1 per spin. 5 spins later I was already down but I continued on. Gambling is a gamble isn’t it?

I looked away for just a moment and I could hear the bonus symbols hit the pay lines. I got 10 free games. I kid you not, the free spins retriggered 4 more times giving me 50 free spins in total! After my fiftieth free spin, I walked out the door £450 richer.

What luck! Have you managed to luck out at the last minute? What game revived your bankroll?

Casino tricks come in many forms. I thought I was on to something over the weekend. I opted for some slots at Box24, a Rival online casino. By the way, this is the only acceptable Rival casino out there in my book in terms of fairness and customer service. As soon as Gusher’s Gold loaded and I took my first spin I won $15. I took a few more spins and nothing. I switched games and played Opera Night. My first 5 spins landed me another $10. I thought hmm maybe I am on to my own casino trick. Switching games often may bring me some luck and prove to be a successful slots trick.

This was actually working for the first 4 slot games. I would have a nice little win and switch slot games. My wins began to decrease after a while. My first thought was to go back to where it all began, Gusher’s Gold. If you have never played Gusher’s Gold it has an awesome bonus round. If 3 blonde chicks land on the reels you are awarded free spins but that’s not the best part. It’s actually the bonus game that you really want. The slot is has a Texas oil tycoon type theme. Three bonus symbols trigger the bonus then you start digging for coins. Choose an oil rig and the perfect place to dig to win some nice cash. You are given 3 opportunities to dig. With a bet of $0.60 per spin, I won $40 or so in the bonus round. That’s success to me! At one point I landed 4 bonus symbols on the reels. This increased the value of the coins buried in the ground.

Once I hit the bonus once or twice more, the slot stopped paying out. I figured that I should give things a rest for the day and not press my luck any further.

I sat down at Wild Wolf. Released by IGT, it is the successor of Wolf Run. You can check out the IGT website for the newest releases. Wild Wolf features stacked wilds and free spins. If you’re lucky enough, the free spins can be retriggered. I have a love hate relationship with this slot game. When the wolf is feelin’ frisky, the payout is awesome and when he’s not, it’s not.

I sat down in my favorite spot. I have to have a machine on the end. Whenever possible that’s where I end up. Being sandwiched between people is not my idea of fun. Anyway, I felt the need to have a conversation with my machine prior to inserting any cash. It went something like this conversation between Froto and Sam in Lord of the Rings: Return of the King.

Frodo: I need you on my side.
Sam: I’m on your side, Mr. Frodo.
Frodo: I know you are, Sam.

I am Froto of course and I need the wolf on my side. I had a good feeling and put in a twenty. At one pound per spin, I was off to a good start.  Almost immediately wild wolves were scattered all over my screen. I was up forty seven bucks! My machine and I were in sync and partners in crime. I spun the night away and left that place with an extra two hundred and fifty pounds in my pocket.

I grew up around horse racing. Coming from a family of avid horse racing fans there was always a few things to look for when betting on the right horse. I love playing a sportsbook because I can virtually play any track I want. Not only that but many online sportsbooks have online casinos too.

Though my dad didn’t offer any online casino tricks he sure did have some tricks when it came to horse racing.  One that I always follow is never play the outside horses. They are just too far and wide to close in on the finish line. Only play the top jockeys and never play a horse that has on blinders because they are way to skittish.

The racing form can be complicated to those that are not familiar with it. I mainly follow the odds of the horse for the most part. I generally stay away from horses that are going off at even odds because unless you are going to place a large wager your not going to earn too much money.

I was always told to follow my hunches. Even if the horse is the longest shot in the race, don’t ever ignore your gut feelings. I learned this lesson early on. I remember having a hunch on a horse after seeing it come out of the paddock and it was going off at 50-1. I had a feeling about that horse and placed $10 to win on it and it won paying $500.

Come to think of it dad did offer an online casino trick once. He always said that when playing Video Poker a pair on each end (bookends as he referred them) never win. I have watched that closely and have to admit that 99% the time they don’t win when I hold them.

What works for you when you’re betting on the ponies?

Keno can be a casino trick in itself.  There’s a  reduced house edge and the game is widely known for its hefty payouts. Online casinos offer Keno as well as bingo sites so it’s readily available.

The rules are simple. Creating matches is critical.  It is similar to lottery where every player has a ticket of 20 numbers. Select the number of games you wish to play and predict the winning numbers for each round. It’s that simple. If you’re not feeling psychic, don’t worry.

If you search out bingo bonuses, you will find that Keno is not an excluded game. Slots are restricted in many cases but Keno counts toward wagering requirements. Try something new. It just might pad your bankroll.
